Terry Smith, Ian Dearden & Linda Hirst
Special guest Oliver Coates (cello) and Thomas Dearden
Lost and Found, Drunk and Disorderly are just two of the components that make up the new Sound and Video work by artist Terry Smith. The team that brought Broken Voices to the tete e Tete last year return with a section from their new work that will be shown at the Foundling Museum, London in 2009.
Terry Smith is a visual artist who has exhibited at four biennials in Venice, the last time in 2007. The video installation will be shown next year at the Foundling Museum. As with Broken Voices, this new work will be split into two parts, a video and sound installation and a touring live performance, with sound and video projections.
The collaboration with Ian Dearden, renowned composer and vocalist Linda Hirst is an essential element in the development of the project.
Just as in Broken Voices Smith develops the work through performances and workshop, although essentially destined to become an art installation for galleries and museum, the process of collaboration crosses over into music and sound works.
There are three major influences on this work Hogarth, Vivaldi and Handel. At this stage it will be near impossible to see/hear those influences. This is a solo cello piece with video monitors and recorded voice. Lost and Found is one section from The Foundling.
This is an experimental work and includes a new piece created for Oliver Coates by Ian Dearden, a piece for cello.
This is the first time this work will have been seen
