Tête À Tête: The Opera Festival
30 July – 16 August, Riverside Studios, London.
Don’t miss the videos of each day of the opera festival which you can find in the menu above.
First the three tenors put the opera into football; now Tête à Tête puts the kick back into opera. Join us as we take the terraces by storm in a jubilant festival of more than thirty new works in our biggest programme yet of entirely 21st century drama and storytelling driven by music and the voice.
Over an action packed 3 weeks, we host up to 6 different performances a night where artists will strain every sinew to poke, prod, nudge, dribble and lovingly kick about this most immediate, engaging, sensual, consuming and sweaty of art-forms.
Paul Clark kicks up a storm with his The Weather Man for Opera North, Errollyn and Byron Wallen unite their jazz and classical careers to explore their touching family story, Glyndebourne Youth Opera and WNO Max showcase spellbinding community works, Roswitha Gerlitz mingles performing shadows and singing contortionists, Impropera’s work is so new they will make it up as they go along, Tête à Tête gives you a tantalising glimpse of their own future shows, and many more performers and artists invite you in to their laboratories to let you become part of the next big thing.
With interval drinks on the terrace and three weeks of action, what’s not to like?
