This is a list of content advisories for Festival 2025 shows, in alphabetical order by title, provided by our artists. As a festival of new work, ideas develop right up to performance, but this should give a sense for each show:

 

As the Crows Fly

Death: not seen onstage, but there may be ‘corpses’ onstage. Reference to the crows eating people.

Violence/war: not seen but mentioned

 

Bitter Visions

Strobe lighting.

There is a ‘possession’ scene which may be scary for some people.

 

The Fairy Temple

Adult content: Opera du Mal is about sexuality and cruising.

The Flying Shadow

Abortion: Aborted child part of the conversation yet not graphic

The Improvesarios

As an improvised show, it is hard to say. We have had quite a few comedic death scenes/comedic “fights” but we would never delve into some truly dark theme.

The Joy of Opera

This is an event filled with discussions and live performances, aimed mainly at adults; while unexpected topics may come up, we are not currently anticipating any sensitive themes.

Strong language: All three characters say the word ‘fuck’. This word occurs three times during the opera. The word ‘crap’ is used once.

 

The Murderous Delusions of Gavrilo K.

Violence

Gavrilo K. fires gun – implicit killing President at start of show. He is interviewed in a psychiatric hospital. It is implied he has been tortured. No violence is shown directly; it is all implicit.

 

Of Earth and Quill

Post-apocalyptic: implied destruction in music and visuals but not horror

 

Peeled Back

Sexism, Bigotry & Discrimination, Death, Suicide, Violence, Strobe lighting

Sexism, bigotry + discrimination: a background theme in The Truth of This as part of historical context, but not dealt with explicitly or at length

Death: implied death in The Truth of This and death in Peel, but not graphically shown

Suicide: at the end of Peel, two bananas are shown jumping into a compost bin in an act of suicide.

Violence: In Get Your Licks In, a severed tongue appears on stage, with implied violence.
