Tête à Tête – International Society of Contemporary Music’s 2018 World Music Days Festival

Thursday, 18th January 2018

We are delighted that composer Laurence Osborn has been shortlisted for the International Society of Contemporary Music’s 2018 World Music Days Festival in Beijing this Spring, for April in the Amazon, commissioned and produced by Tête à Tête, with a libretto by Theo Merz.

Tête à Tête’s Artistic Director, Bill Bankes-Jones, first came across Laurence and Theo’s work whilst directing Great Expectations in 2012, a series of short operas by students at The Royal College of Music in collaboration with Tête à Tête. Later that year we commissioned Laurence and Theo to write Earthly Desires, a 10 minute Pop Up Opera performed in public spaces during our 2012 Tête à Tête: The Opera Festival.

You can watch April in the Amazon, directed by Bill Bankes-Jones, performed by Loré Lixenberg and Tête à Tête’s associate ensemble CHROMA, conducted by Tête à Tête’s Music Director Timothy Burke HERE

A panel of international judges will now decide on final selections with an announcement expected in March 2018. You can find the outcome and read all about the International Society of Contemporary Music and their World Music Days Festival here: HERE
