Words: William Wordsworth and Dorothee Wordsworth, dramatised by Hans Vercauteren and Charles Sobry
Guide to the Lakes is a theatrical picnic and a new music theatre piece by Story Tree.
Composers (and partners) Lente Verelst and Hans Vercauteren each wrote a brand new set of songs, performed by a musical trio, that will guide you through points of view, excursions, picnics, wandering thoughts, riddles and impressions that will be scarcely ever effaced.
Based on William Wordsworth’s Guide to the Lakes, this show is a staged tourist guide where actor Charles Sobry takes on the role of guide and sometimes even of Wordsworth himself. With trivial introductions, frivolous afterthoughts and some delightful poems he escorts you through the romantic ideas of the awe-inspiring Lake District.
In times where travelling is complicated, this show about travel is as healthy for you as the air in the Lake District.
All drawings by Alfred Wainwright in the show and promotion are © the Estate of A. Wainwright, and used with their kind permission.
The interactive broadcast will include a Q&A with the cast and creative team, and perhaps even some riddles.
Age range: all ages, but mostly adults
