The Cockpit

Words: Madeleine Brooks

A semi-staged reading of a new opera in progress telling the true story of Violet Gibson, the Irish woman who very nearly single-handedly changed the course of the Twentieth Century, and was also a bit mad.

The piece explores how a seemingly powerless individual can find strength of will to take drastic action when faced with a chaotic world, and the fine line between bravery and insanity.

Brought to you by a mainly Irish creative team led by a direct descendant of Violet.

Violet played by Rachel Nic Thomás
