In Step with Troubadours
Muziektheater Transparant’s Artist in Residence, Claron McFadden returns to Cubitt Sessions, this time with Osama Abdulrasol (Qanun ) and Sjahin During (Percussion).
With the compositions of Abdulrasol, traditional songs and texts spanning centuries and continents, this trio weaves a rich tapestry of music, stories, folklore and poetry, paying hommage to the men and women who were and are the “living archives of people’s traditions” In step with troubadours!

Claron McFadden is known for her unique interpretation of contemporary music. McFadden is much in demand as a soloist in opera, sings at virtually all the international festivals and gives concerts with, amongst others, the London Philharmonic and the BBC. In 2007 she was awarded the Amsterdam Prize for the Arts. McFadden is artist in residence at Muziektheater Transparant.
Osama Abdulrasol (OsArt) is a composer, producer, qanun player, ud player and visual artist. He studied classical guitar in the UK and eastern qanun (Arabic lap harp) in Iraq. Abdulrasol has written music for film, theatre, and many other projects. He has arranged and produced music for, and performed with, musicians from different traditions including Arabic, Jazz, Experimental, Indian, Turkish bands and much more.
Sjahin During has founded and led several groups including Bayuba Cante, Turqumstances and most recently Tarhana and Afro Anatolian Tales Arifa. He is a producer and teacher of world music, specialising in percussion. During has studied with masters in Havana (Cuba), Istanbul (Turkey), India, Spain and Africa. During has toured and given concerts and workshops all around the world.
