The Cockpit
Music: Geoff Page
Words: John Milton
Cast out from the perfection of heaven, and mired in bitter resentment and wounded pride, Lucifer arises, and rallies those loyal to his cause – the destruction of the pinnacle of God’s creation.
Milton’s epic gripping and compelling masterpiece Paradise Lost is retold through this one-man opera by Geoff Page. The role of Lucifer is performed by world-renowned countertenor Lawrence Zazzo.
“If Andreas Scholl is the Rolls-Royce of countertenors, then Zazzo is the Maserati.” (The Times of London)
The intial broadcast included performer Lawrence Zazzo and composer and pianist Geoff Page being on hand after the stream to answer any of the audience’s questions about the genesis, rehearsal, and development of Paradise Lost.
