Glyndebourne Youth Opera
Double-Bill: On Off and When I Am Old
Glyndebourne Youth Opera presents a double-bill of newly commissioned work, On Off, by Orlando Gough, a vocal ensemble piece exploring our relationship with energy and the challenges of sustainable living, and When I Am Old by Hannah Conway, with libretto by Hazel Gould, inspired by the story of Rachel Corrie, the young American peace activist killed in Gaza in 2003.
Glyndebourne Youth Opera 3 is a company of young people over 14 years old from around East Sussex, meeting at Glyndebourne on a weekly basis with group leaders and visiting artists. The participants devise work and present performances whilst developing as an opera company; exploring a range of story-telling techniques through a broad variety of musical genres, at the same time developing skills in devising, performing and critical analysis using a number of creative start points.
